Nutrition Education for the K Through 12 Grade

3 Semester Units

Students will explore modern concepts of Nutrition Education. Emphasis will be placed on current nutrition issues, good nutritional health habits, nutrition and disease, and nutrition and the Athlete. The students will explore nutrition education programs developed by the State Department of Education to be implemented in all California Schools grades preschool through 12th grade. A variety of teaching strategies will be utilized in teaching K through 12th grade. Discussion of eating disorders of children in K-12 grades as well as adults, and how health personnel and teachers can work with students who have these eating disorders.
